Praise for Storyteller, Storyteacher

(book by Marni Gillard)

"One of the best..."

One of the best books I've found in my ever-expanding personal library is Marni Gillard's Storyteller, Storyteacher. For those storytellers who don't know this book, it is a gem! I devoured it, marking down pertinent passages, and I continue to find much material to think about. The bibs in the back are extensive.

"She...thanked me a thousand times over for telling her about it"

Dear Marni,

I think of you and your wonderful work...took your book with me to THE OUTER BANKS last week and as we were being evacuated by BONNIE, driving inland to Raleigh I began rereading your book and can't say often enough how much I love it.

My sister Rita treasures her copy as well. She tells me it is helping her a great deal as she works towards writing her story.

My friend Joyce Weiss, a storyteller from NYC bought a copy of your book at my recommendation. She called me yesterday and thanked me a thousand times over for telling her about it - she absolutely loves it and is so grateful that I told her about it. Your book arrived at her doorstep at just the right moment to give her courage...to continue her storytelling journey.

Barbara Aliprantis, NYC storyteller

"It is hard to put this book down"

From the winter 99 issue of Territorial Tattler:

What a wonderful book for storytellers who do workshops and for teachers who want to teach story telling techniques to students. Ms. Gillard's style of writing flows so smoothly and her information is so captivating, it is hard to put this book down. She gives such insight into both teacher and student thought processes that the reader can "see" and understand both views.

This is not a step-by-step how-to book, but an overview of what works, what to expect, and how to deal with personalities.

Even after being in education for twenty-three years, I found some hints to help in teaching all subjects. This book would be a great asset to any educational library but you will probably want your own copy.
